Meet the Founder

Paul Maready

Born and raised in Redding, CA, Paul Maready discovered his passion for 3D printing while pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree at California State University, Chico. His hands-on approach quickly made him the go-to expert for 3D printing on campus, contributing to student projects, campus clubs like SAE and Chico State 3DP, and countless senior capstones.

After graduation, Paul set out to transform that passion into a business—and Northstate Additive was born. Whether fabricating components for vintage Willy’s Jeeps with his family and friends or helping startups bring prototypes to life, Paul brings a deep respect for precision, practicality, and innovation to every print.

For him, 3D printing isn’t just a tool—it’s a way to solve real-world problems creatively and affordably

Northstate Additive is a forward-thinking additive manufacturing startup based in Redding, California. We partner with clients to bring their ideas to life—whether it's developing a brand-new product or refining an existing one. Our founder and CEO, Paul Maready, holds a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from CSU, Chico, where he led award-winning research in bio-composites, advanced 3D printing techniques, and design-for-manufacturing.

Representing the CSU Chico Plastics Program, Paul earned statewide recognition at research expositions in 2022, 2023, and 2024. That hands-on experience revealed a powerful niche: using 3D printing not just for prototyping, but as a full-service solution for individuals, startups, and established companies alike. Today, Northstate Additive serves clients across Northern California with precision, creativity, and a commitment to engineering excellence.
